Living within a few dozen feet of the sea in Ocean Beach, local artist Kim Grannis started to focus on her artistic medium while under the Covid 19 lockdown in 2020.
It was during this time that Kim took stock of the world around her and realized that the isolation was a lonely time and she needed to share some positivity with her friends and neighbors.
She started painting on rocks and leaving them outside of her friends homes as a way to brighten up their days and to let them know someone was thinking about them.
This simple gesture helped so many get through this extremely tough time that it inspired her to create more art throughout her community.
These recycled teak bowls from Indonesia are all hand painted by Kim and take anywhere from 7 - 10 hours of time to complete. Each is totally unique and created with the energy and positivity of that day's feelings and interactions.
