In the late 1980s and early 1990s, the legends of our sport hadn’t quite yet been re-embraced by the surfing masses. Many had fallen out of surfing and were boat building, just living in obscurity. Phil and Hobie re-connected in 1990 to reissue a couple classics from Phil’s past. 

At the time, Surfing was knee deep in modern tri-fins and still very much revolving around the new breed of rippers and Tom Curren’s comeback to the ASP world tour. In the same issues as “Reef Brazil” and “OP Hydrolight” ads was a single page ad featuring surfings first professional surfer and first to ever surf The Pipeline: Phil Edwards. 

This release from Hobie set the tone for future classic surfboard reissues from Greg Noll, Bing and many others. 

This board is one of those from the OG run shaped by Phil. I have a 10’2” and I love it. Theres something about having a board from the guy who set the table for all Those who followed. 

This Board is in good condition and has some storage scuffs. A small crack above the fin box as well as some suntan patina.
