Diff was the life of the party. His early years were spent around La Jolla and San Diego, surfing and shaping for Olympic, Inner-Island,Select Surf Shop, Channin and of course, under his own label. Diff was the glue to the entire surf scene in SD and his influence on the modern surfboard was seen in the decades that followed by shapers who worked or were influenced by Diff. Shapers like Bill Caster, Mike Hynson, Skip Frye and countless others come to mind. In fact, Diff shaped Skip's first surfboard, a 9'3" balsa single fin made in the summer of 1958.
He was, and is, considered one of the greatest surfboard shapers of all-time and often referred to as surfings “MichaelAngelo.” His Balsa boards are some of the most desired in the surfboard collecting world but this one just might be the best of them all.
Measuring in at twelve feet and one inch of solid balsa with redwood stringers, redwood nose and tail blocks and a gorgeous, hand-foiled Koa wood and resin tint fin, all glassed by Jack Reeves at Sunset Beach Hawaii. This board is hard to describe as words fail to do it justice.
This board has been in Rusty Preisendorfers private collection for over 30-years. It is valued at $25-30k but is being offered at a highly discounted price for a fast sale. You will not find a finer, hand built surfboard anywhere. Period.
Please email with any questions.
Board is 10/10 with only one or two minor storage scuffs.
