The long fish of the past twenty years have been a great addition for all surfers quivers. The one common thing almost all were lacking wasn’t speed, it was turning radius. Fast and staying on line was one of the main characteristics.
Then came Skip Fryes “Nozzle” which widened the outline all around; including the tail but the added high hip helped cure all that was not there for the long fish designs of old. Now we had a board that caught waves with ease, was stable, loose and fast. This design is th missing link.
Roy liked the design but wanted to change a few things to make it a little more user friendly. First he added a more modern rail contour that is a bit more forgiving and geared toward performance. He then blended the deep single concave and pulled in the nose and tail a touch.
The result came out fantastic. The Slip Steam is made as a daily driver from 2’-10’ conditions. A 300 day a year board that can do anything and everything most surfers want at beaches, reefs and points.
