This 8'2" Nozzle features Skip Frye's famous single deep concave that feedsall the way through the fin area and off the tail. The speed of a fish but with the versatility to ride in anything from 2'-10.'
This design was perfected by Skip Frye and has proven itself in waves like Chicama Peru all the way through local beach breaks and heavy reefs. Its one of Skips greatest designs and Michael nails it in spades. This is your daily driver in everything.
The boards is glassed with a 6+6 deck and 6 oz bottom with patch by the fin plugs for added strength. This is a wet-sanded gloss coat, or a "Satin" finish. This gives you the added strength of a gloss but without the high-shine and "slippery in the hands" feeling. It also features a leash loop and a wedge dark wood stinger for added soul and nice flex in the tail. Board was glassed at Custom Surf Glass, one of Californias finest shops featuring the glasswork of our dear friend, Mitch King.
Lavender Resin tint
We recommend the the Christine Caro fins from True Ames. With the three plug feature, you can more your fins up or back for added feel.
"I started working around surfboards in 1998 at Joe Roper Surfboard Repairs. There, I learned all of the basics of surfboard construction from start to finish. After Ropers, I worked for Chris Christenson of Christenson Surfboards for five years as a laminator and production shaping. At Christenson's, I was able tune in my shaping and glassing skills to a higher level and with the close proximity of our complex, I was fortunate enough to be able to become friends with and learn from Skip Frye. I feel like my two biggest influences on my board design have been Chris and Skip and I owe them everything."
"Skip is still my next door neighbor after 21 years working at this location and has been a great source of surfboard information, surf history and how to be a good person."
"From the first time I shaped a board in 1999 I wanted to know how to build surfboards from start to finish. I thought all shapers knew how to do this so I felt like I needed to learn how to make a showroom quality shape and glass job. This limited production helped me control quality which is what matters to me. I like to shape all kinds of boards from high-performance shortboards to 12-foot gliders."
