GHETTO GLASSING
John Durant was getting a custom surfboard made by Skip Frye and went down to Larrys house to his little glass shop out back. It was known as Ghetto Glassing as it was very much a thrown together beach shack. Here is a glimpse at how things used to be in Coastal California.
Before Larry became a world renowned shaper, he glassed boards for Skip Frye behind his parents house in Pacific Beach. It was known as "Ghetto Glassing," and boards from Skip, Hynson and the Select Surf Shop crew all ran boards through the little shed. Larry soon learned to shape from Skip and started his path to becoming a world class shaper and production shaper to Sharp Eye, Xanadu, Kane Garden and others. He continues to build some of the best working surfboards in the world today.
