    SKIP FRYE

After the glory of the 1960s, The 70's were full of change for everyone. Surfboards, politics and the Vietnam War had everyone in a state of flux. Skip was no different. He found himself shaping boards for a few dollars each behind Select Surf Shop. This era he refers to as his "Ghetto Days." John Durant was getting a new board shaped one summer afternoon and shot off a roll of images. These 50 year old glimpses at a master who had not yet received the mass approval he now enjoys. The struggle was real.
