    The Surfboard Rack

    CHAPTERS: Vol.1 With Bob Merson

Chapters is an ongoing, short interview series I'll be doing with people of interest. Its sort of short-attention-span theatre. I have a tough time sitting through 2-hour podcasts that ramble over a hundred topics. This series rather selects a chapter from someones story and presents it in a bite sized offering. It also allows me to revisit people to share some other chapters from their journey. I hope you follow along and enjoy.

Bob Merson is a quiet, organized and somewhat unassuming when you first meet him. Polite but reading the room. He's sizing up the situation before he speaks, which made me like him right away. To see a man so artistic and dedicated to craftsmanship, well, thats an inspiration for me.

I met with Bob at his house in Oceanside to take a look around at the many treasures that live in his small, backyard work-shack. The soulfulness of the area shows his love of all things surfing. The boards he's chosen to work on, the images of surfers from every era and the attention to cleanliness stand out right away.

I hope you take a few minutes to get to know surf-artist and surfboard craftsman Bob Merson in this first episode of Chapters.
