Choosing a Used Surfboard
If you are new to surfing or want to buy a better surfboard but have a limited budget then buying a used surfboard could be the answer. Buying a used surfboard will allow you to buy a better quality of surfboard for less money. There are lots of different types of surfboards for sale and it does not matter if it’s a new or used surfboard you will need to buy the right type of board for you to use.
The Shortboard is still the choice of most advanced and intermediate surfers and is normally made from foam and fiberglass. Shortboard is normally a short narrow and sleek surfboard which gives you high performance and control. However the Shortboard comes in a large variety of designs and styles as you are at the radical end of surfing, so these boards can be off the shelf or custom made to your requirements.
The Fish Surfboard is a short but wide surfboard which is suitable for the smaller waves which normally occur in summer. The Shortboard used to have twin surfboard fins but now normally comes in the thruster set-up; this allows it to generate great speed from even the smallest of waves. The biggest drawback with the Fish Surfboard is it’s normally only suitable for surfers who weigh 11 stone or less; however the Fish surfboard is king of the boards for the small surf performance.
The Longboard surfboard is suitable for both beginners and advanced surfers and is great for paddling and riding small waves, its size allows you to ride the smaller waves and also makes it easier for the beginner to standup as its very stable. There are two main types of longboard which are the classic Malibu/nose rider which is heavy and will catch any wave or the all-rounder or performance Malibu which is more advanced and allows you to turn easier which makes for radical maneuvers.
The Mini Mal surfboard is suitable for all people and all conditions of surf which makes it the perfect all-rounder. The Mini Mal is a perfect board for beginners because it’s a very stable board with predictable handling and is easy to paddle this in turn makes it easier to catch the waves. The Mini Mal is the perfect board for a beginner, however more experienced surfers normally carry a Mini Mal in there surfboard racks just in case their normal board is not performing in the conditions they can always turn to the Mini Mal.
If you want to go surfing and have your own surfboard or boards and want to transport the surfboards in your own or rented vehicle to your destination and have room inside for passengers or luggage then buying a surfboard rack is going to be essential and there is quite a big range of styles and designs of surfboard racks to choose from.
Surfboard racks come in a variety of designs there is the fixed surfboard racks which can be permanently attached to your vehicle but are quite expensive, Locking surfboard racks are the most expensive option but ensure the security of your surfboard, this in turn could eventually save you money as theft of surfboards can be an expensive problem. The third option is the soft surfboard racks which are inexpensive and ideal if you are using a rental vehicle they are also quite good at reducing the damage to your surfboard as they are in a soft bag and not a ridged frame so cause minimum pressure or impact damage to your surfboards.
